Guilty Pleasures : Christmas Movies

by - December 13, 2013

It should come as no shocker to you all that I love watching Christmas movies, and my personal philosophy is the cheesier the better. I mean yeah, I love the classics too. You can't go wrong with Elf, or Miracle on 34th street, but there's just something about bad acting, and terrible plot lines to put me in the christmasy spirit.

ABC family and Hallmark come out with new movies every year, and I watch all of them. I'm not exaggerating either, I start in mid-october and continue watching right up until christmas day. I think so far this year I've watched a total of 20 wonderfully horrible movies, so I thought I'd share some of personal favorites.

What's better than A.C. Slater getting kidnapped by Sabrina the Teenage Witch and being forced to pretend to be her boyfriend over the holidays so that her parents don't think her life is a total joke? Nothing my dear friends, nothing is.
I watch this every year, without fail. It is without a doubt one of the worst movies I've ever seen, with some terrible, terrible acting. But I love every crappy second of it.

Oh look it's grown up Zack Morris, (did the entire cast of Saved by the Bell decide to do Christmas movies?) and he grew up real good. In this ABC Family classic a girl has to re-live her Christmas Eve first date with sexy Zack Morris over and over again (I'd be okay with it) until she learns to live her life, take some risks blah blah blah blah blah. You get the idea. Truthfully the movie is bad, granted the acting is slightly better than the last (not by much) but worth it just to watch Mark-Paul Gosselaar be the perfect blind date 12 times.

Unfortunately this movie doesn't have a character from my favorite 80s/90s sitcom, but it does have a very sexy scottish actor named Sam Heughan who plays a prince. And the girl, who is the sister of the Prince's late brother's wife (read through that slowly, you'll get it) is left to care for her sister's two kids after she dies. They are invited to a castle at Christmas, as one is, find out that somehow they are royalty and then she falls in love with the damn prince and it's just god damn perfect.
Someone figure out how this can happen for me, and you'll have my eternal gratitude

There are many, many others that I love, but this should get you started. I'll make you all obsessed with cheesy Christmas movies just as much as I am if it's the last thing I do.

P.S,
let me know some of your favorite Christmas films, cheesy or not, because I'm always looking to watch some more :)
