Monthly Roundup | June

by - June 30, 2017

Another month done, and another moment to wonder how the heck it went by so fast? I swear I was planning out my June calendar a week ago, but I guess not because it's July tomorrow. This month was a busy, but very exciting one and I'm very happy to write this round up, because I want to remember it in months to come! So let's not waste any more time, and just jump right into it.

A lot happened this month, but if you're following me on any of my social media platforms you would know that the bulk of it has to do with my decision to move to the land down under in September. I'm sort of shocked by how quickly this all came together, because I am an incredibly indecisive person, but I was able to decide I was going, pick a host family, get my visa and book my flight in just under two weeks. A friend of mine made a comment that it was the universes way of letting me know that I made the right choice, and that everything happens for a reason and I kind of agree! I know that not everyone will understand my reason for going, or be happy about it, but I am extremely excited and I can't wait to be able to share the whole experience with you guys!

This month also gave me the opportunity to reunite with some old friends, and I came to realize that it doesn't matter how long it's been or how much you've grown apart, because if you're lucky you'll have friendships that are strong enough to withstand all that. I got a taste of that when I attended a going away party for a friend who's moving to the other side of the country to do her masters, and I got to see a bunch of old friends from high school who I unfortunately haven't really hung out with in a couple of years. But honestly when we all got together it was like we had seen each other the day before, and everything kind of just fell back into place. And I am extremely grateful to have friendships like that.
Since summer officially started in June (though if I'm being honest Ottawa is not really giving us summer weather just yet), that means it's bathing suit season. Which is my absolute least favorite season of all. I love to swim and be in the water, but I hate the way I look in a bathing suit. However, I often preach to other's that they should love themselves and never let the thought of what others may say or think stop you from doing things that you love, so I figured it was about time I start to take my own advise. So I did my best to put my fears and worries in the very back of my mind, and get back in the pool. Being more body positive, and accepting yourself is a hard thing friends, but one step at a time!

The end of this month will mark the end of the 2nd month in my apartment in the city, and truthfully I hadn't done enough exploring of downtown before about the 2nd or 3rd week of June. I'll only be living in my apartment for another 2 months, so I'm definitely going to try to make a conscious effort to explore more, try new places and check off some bucket list items before I leave. One of those that I got to cross of my list was trying ice cream from Sweet Jesus, which is a very popular soft serve ice cream shop in Ottawa and Toronto. I had the strawberry shortcake flavor, and it was really tasty, and insanely messy. And as an added bonus, made for a real cute pic on the gram!

And that was June. Of course some other little things happened along the way, but nothing overly exciting I promise! I'm excited for a new month, and for what July will bring, but at the same time I am sad that summer is already almost halfway over and that I'll be leaving not long after. There is still so much to do, and not enough time to do it!

Much Love,
Spenser xx
