The Sydney Bucket List | Revisited

by - Monday, May 21, 2018

Hello  Lovelies!

Before I moved to Sydney I wrote out this big list of things I wanted to do when I got here, and I shared some of that list with you. I've now been living in this city for almost 8 months, and I think I've accomplished a fair amount on that list. So I thought it might be a fun idea to revisit it, and see what I've done, what I still have to do, and if there are any changes I want to make to it.

  1. Swim in the Bondi Icebergs Pool (I fear that this might not be a possibility anymore, as its nearly winter here, and i'm not so keen on the pool actually being the temperature of an iceberg!)
  1. Visit Taronga Zoo (I took the kids back in December and it was the best zoo I have ever been to. You cannot beat that view!)
  2. Do the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb (I originally put this on the list because its the quintessential Sydney thing to do, but I've since decided it's far too expensive and just not worth it!)
  3. Go on a Whale Watrching Cruise in Sydney Harbour (I have actually done two of these, and I may do one more before I go home, as the Whales are migrating back towards Sydney right now.)
  4. Do ALL the Costal Walks; Bondi to Coogee, Manly to Split Bridge, Rose Bay to Watsons Bay etc.. (Okay so I haven't done all of them, in fact I've only done Manly to Spit, but I am most definitely going to do ALL of them before I leave!)
  5. Cuddle Koalas (Got to do this when I went to Brisbane with my friend over the Christmas break, and they really are as soft as you would think!)
  6. Do Sunrise Yoga on the Beach (Ok, I must have been drunk when I wrote this one, because as much as I love a good sunrise, I am certainly not a morning person enough to find my way to the beach in time for some sunrise yoga.)
  7. Find the Best Coffee in Sydney (You can count this off the list as well, because I miss drip coffee, which is unfortunately not a specialty of this city.)
  8. Do a Wine Tour in the Hunter Valley (Crossed this one off back at the start of the year and it was nothing short of spectacular!)
  9. Have a Picnic in the Royal Botanic Gardens
  10. Visit Blue Mountains National Park ( Hasn't happened just yet, but there are plans for June, and I promise to share some pictures once I go!)
  11. Feed Kangaroos (Another one crossed off when I was in Brisbane, and it was a lot less scary than I thought it would be!)
  12. Hop on the Ferry to Manly (Have done this like every other weekend since I got here!)
  13. Spend Christmas Day on Bondi Beach (I spent part of Christmas on Bondi with one of my best friends and her mum, it was pretty windy and miserable out though, so we traded a beach towel for some popcorn and headed to a movie.)
  14. Pop Champagne at the Opera Bar (Opera Bar is probably one of my favourite places in the city! The view is gorgeous, and the drinks aren't too expensive- it's a perfect place to pop some bubbly!)
  15. Explore Luna Park (I got to go to Luna Park at Halloween for their yearly Halloscream event, which was tons of fun, and even though I'm not a huge fan of roller coasters and thrill rides, I had a wonderful time.)
  16. Visit the Sydney Aquarium (Another place I took the kids during school holidays. I think exploring places like this are made more fun by going with the kids, because seeing their faces light up is everything!)
  17. See a Show in the Sydney Opera House (Still really want to make this happen, but just waiting for the right show to pop up.)
  18. Discover Sydney's Hidden Beaches (I've gone to a couple, most can actually be found along the coastal walks. Manly remains my favourite beach in Sydney though.)
  19. Take a Surf Lesson, Or Two (I'm a bit too much a scaredy cat to do this one, so I don't think I'll be crossing this off my list in the end.)
I think I've done pretty well if I do say so myself! There are definitely still some things to do, and certainly some that I just don't think will happen. But I will say that I am so pleased with all I've done while living in this beautiful city, and I am looking forward to making the most of my final months here!

Much Love,
Spense xx
