I cannot believe it's the end of another month already. It's hard to fathom that I've been back in Canada for about a month and a half now. Admittedly I'm a little bit jealous that my friends back in Sydney are enjoying the gorgeous sun but, I am happy to report that Fall is finally in full swing here, so I am not too heartbroken about it. As it's the end of another month, I thought I'd take a moment to share some of my favourite things about September.

September marked the beginning of a new contract at work for me. I am eternally grateful for the connections I made while working there before I left for Australia, because the day I came home, I got an email from an old coworker asking if I would be interested in working with them again, until the end of November. I of course jumped at this opportunity, for a multitude of reasons. The main being that well, Australia was expensive. Combine that with my personal spending habits, and let's just say I was in desperate need of immediate employment! I also happen to love the people that I work with, and any chance to gain a little more professional experience is always welcomed.

Another favourite memory this month was apple picking with my girls. Autumn is without a doubt my favourite season, and I swear as soon as the weather drops below 20 I'm ready to celebrate in every possible way. So as soon as we knew there were some apples ready, we put on our cutest fall outfits and drove down to one of Ottawa's cutest little farms. Before we headed to the trees we stopped first to cuddle some of the animals they had out, including 2 week old little bunnies. The animal petting may have been meant for the little ones, but we didn't care. After snapping a few pictures, we moved on with our adventure and each filled up a bag of lobos and macintoshes. When we were done we grabbed some of their homemade tacos and churros and headed back home. It was a perfect day, spent laughing and making memories with some of my favourite people.

The next weekend was spent with family instead of friends. It had been an awfully long time since I'd seen my extended family, so we decided to spend a weekend at a family friends lake house. We lucked out with some gorgeous weather, and I felt so blessed that we got to spend the last weekend of summer soaking up the sun together. We played board games all weekend, and ate copious amounts of food. It was without a doubt my favourite weekend of the month, and I'd do it all again next weekend if I could!

And that brings us to the last few weeks of September. Which included some much needed alone time. I have been home for awhile, but only recently did I get a chance to take a breath and relax on my own. Don't get me wrong, spending time with family and friends has been nothing sort of amazing, and since I hadn't seen them for so long, it was all I wanted when I got home. However, I started working almost immediately after I got home, and feel like I never had a real chance to settle. So when my parents left for the usual fall vacation, I took that as an opportunity to shut of my phone, light a fall scented candle, and just be.

September went by quickly, but it was a perfect month. Filled with love, laughter and a very large quantity of apple flavoured desserts. And I couldn't have asked for anything more. October starts tomorrow - the leaves are finally starting to change, sweater weather is in full effect, and I'm ready for another month of autumnal activities!

Much love,
Spense xx
